Testing Aso Kids for a Creative Kids’ Brand Website

I was working on a redesign for a boutique online store that sells educational toys and creative kits for kids. The brand wanted to feel playful, approachable, and visually engaging—something that would resonate with both parents and children. That’s when I came across Aso Kids, a bold and chunky lettered display font. It immediately stood out as the perfect fit for the project.

The first thing I noticed about Aso Kids is how its thick, rounded letters give off a sense of energy and fun. It has this childlike playfulness that makes it ideal for a website targeting young audiences. When I placed it in the hero section over an image of colorful building blocks, the text felt like it belonged there—it didn’t overpower the visuals but instead added a layer of personality and charm.

I tested Aso Kids in several places: headers, call-to-action buttons, product titles, and even in a small banner promoting a new arrival. Each time, it worked well. Its large, readable characters made it easy to scan on both desktop and mobile screens. Even at smaller sizes, it maintained clarity without becoming too cluttered. This was especially important for mobile users who might be browsing quickly while on the go.

One of my main concerns was readability. Display fonts can sometimes sacrifice legibility for style, but Aso Kids struck a good balance. I used it primarily for headlines and short phrases where visual impact mattered more than long paragraphs. For body copy, I paired it with a clean sans serif font like Open Sans or Lato. This combination kept the site looking polished and professional while still feeling fun and inviting.

On the landing page, I used Aso Kids for the headline “Spark Curiosity, Build Creativity.” It drew attention instantly and helped set the tone for the entire page. Below that, I used a more neutral font for the supporting text, which allowed the display font to shine without overwhelming the reader.

Another area where Aso Kids shined was in promotional banners and social media graphics. I created a few mockups using the font for a campaign highlighting their latest STEM kits. The result was eye-catching and aligned perfectly with the brand’s identity. The font’s boldness made the messages stand out, and its playful nature helped reinforce the brand’s mission to inspire creativity in children.

When designing for responsiveness, I made sure to test Aso Kids across different screen sizes. On larger screens, it looked great as a full-width header. On smaller devices, I adjusted the line spacing slightly to ensure it remained legible. I also avoided using it in areas where it could cause visual fatigue, such as long-form content or navigation menus.

I also considered font pairing. Aso Kids works best when contrasted with simpler fonts. Pairing it with a modern sans serif for body text creates a balanced look. For a more editorial feel, I experimented with a light serif font alongside it, which gave the site a slightly more sophisticated edge without losing its playful spirit.

Before finalizing the design, I checked the font’s availability and licensing. Since Aso Kids is a commercial font, I made sure to use it under the appropriate license for the client’s needs. I also verified that it supported all the necessary characters and languages for the target audience, which included English and some common European languages.

Overall, Aso Kids proved to be a versatile and effective choice for the project. It brought a sense of joy and creativity to the website without compromising usability or professionalism. Whether used for headlines, banners, or promotional content, it consistently delivered the right visual impact and emotional tone.

If you’re working on a project that needs a touch of whimsy and fun, Aso Kids is worth considering. Its bold, chunky lettering adds character to any digital layout, making it a great addition to websites, marketing materials, and brand assets that aim to connect with younger audiences or convey a sense of playfulness.
